Sajith questions steps to combat COVID-19

COLOMBO (News1st): Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has questioned the government on the steps taken to fight COVID-19, as experts caution of a new wave of infections. "Considering the rapid rise in COVID-19 infections and deaths, will the government admit that there is a new COVID-19 wave in the country?" Premadasa queried. He called on the government to disclose data on the number of infections, deaths, PCR tests, and the number of patients at ICU facilities, and ordinary wards in the last 10 days. "Will the government apprise the House on the efficacy of the jabs against each variant?" Premadasa questioned. He also queried whether the decision to summon all state sector employees to work would not expose the lives of sick people and expectant mothers to risk. "Is the government contended with the number ICU beds, the quantity of oxygen supply, the testing capacity and the number of health care personnel?" Premadasa questioned.
