COLOMBO (News 1st); 11 women have previously served as domestic servants at former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen’s residence and three have died, including the 16-year old girl, Police Media Spokesperson SDIG Ajith Rohana says.
He further stated that Police have also recorded more statements from witnesses concerning the case of the death of a 16-year old domestic servant at ex-Minister Bathiudeen’s residence.
The Police Spokesperson further revealed that all 11 previous domestic servants were brought to the Minister’s residence by the same trafficker.
Meanwhile, another domestic worker who was employed at the residence during the 2009-2010 period has admitted that she too, has been sexually harassed by the brother-in-law of the ex-minister during her period of employment.
The relevant woman has been produced before the Judicial Medical Officer, and further steps will be taken with regard to her case, while the brother-in-law of the ex-minister Bathiudeen has been named as a suspect of this case as well.
