62-year-old busted for stealing copper wire from train circuits

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested a 62-year-old male resident from Baseline Road, Dematagoda for stealing copper wires from the Dematagoda Railway Yard.

Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said a complaint was filed with the Dematagoda Police noting that the copper wires in the electric circuits connecting compartments were stolen.

The value of the loot is over Rs. 300,000/-, said the Police Spokesperson.

The suspect was remanded after producing in the court and he will be charged with looting public property and unlawfully entering a railway premises.
