COLOMBO (News 1st); Tensions flared in Parliament when Opposition Parliamentarian S. M. Marikkar was to propose the motion of no-confidence against Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila.

Ruling party members challenged Marikkar noting that he cannot be allowed to speak twice during a motion of no-confidence.

This situation led to heated exchanges between the ruling faction and opposition and tensions were eventually brought down by the Prime Minister noting that the ruling party was ready for the debate.
