COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Additional Magistrate on Tuesday (13) lifted the overseas travel ban imposed on 14 out of the 25 crew members of the X-Press Pearl Container Ship.
Additional Magistrate Lochana Abveywickrama made the order upon considering a request made by Deputy Solicitor General Madhawa Thennakoon who pointed out that the investigations against the 14 crew members were completed.
In addition, the General Manager of the X-Press Pearl’s local agent company was ordered by the court to immediately surrender 04 logbooks to the Criminal Investigations Department.
These books include the logbook maintained at the Bridge of the X-Press Pearl and the official notes of the crew members.
The Court also ordered the Criminal Investigations Department to expedite the investigations carried out on the Captain and Crew of the X-Press Pear and the staff at the local agent company.
The matter will be called up again on the 30th of July.
