COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Police have arrested 164 individuals for breaking quarantine rules and regulations.
Senior DIG, Ajith Rohana said since the 30th of October 2020, a total number of 49,837 suspects have been arrested in connection with the same offenses.
'We have checked 5,494 suspects at the entry and exit points of the Western Province along with 2,999 vehicles. In addition to that, 103 people have been admonished by the police as they were trying to cross the provincial border without any permission,' he told News1st.
The Senior DIG further stated that the public should adhere to the health guidelines in respect of Covid-19.
These guidelines were issued by the Director-General of Health Services on the 10th of July and remain in effect until the 24th of July.
