COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Criminal Investigations Department on Wednesday 923) arrested a lawyer for attesting a fake deed used for the sale of land that belongs to the Thailand Embassy in Colombo
Sri Lanka Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st that a complaint was made with the Criminal Investigations Department over the sale of the property and following investigations, it was revealed that property was sold using a forged deed and fake power of attorney.
Both the seller and buyer in the sale were arrested by the CID earlier, he said, adding that investigation extracts were forwarded to the Attorney General, who had instructed the CID to arrest the lawyer involved in the scam.
