Around 50 dead sea turtles washed ashore since MV X-PRESS PEARL disaster

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Government Analyst's Department is currently conducting investigations with regard to the dead sea turtles and other marine creatures that washed ashore along the country's coastal line in recent days. Various sea creatures including dolphins and more than 40 dead sea turtles have washed ashore since, the MV X-PRESS PEARL disaster. Through the investigations, the exact cause of death of the marine creatures could be determined, Government Analyst Gauri Ramana told News 1st on Friday (Jun. 18). According to the Government Analyst, investigations were also launched to determine the impact of the MV X-PRESS PEARL disaster on the seawater as well as its chemical composition. The relevant reports will be submitted soon following investigations, she further noted.
