COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Wildlife has decided to explore legal options with regard to seeking compensation over dead marine life that is washing up on Sri Lankan shores due to the effects of the sinking X-Press Pearl container ship.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Wildlife Somarathna Vidanapathirana speaking to News 1st said legal action will be taken against the operators of the X-Press Pearl, under the provisions of the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance.
Over the past two weeks, more than 31 dead sea turtles & 05 dolphins washed up on Sri Lankan shores.
