COLOMBO (News 1st): Facilities have been provided for senior citizens to obtain their pension payments, both today (Jun. 10) and tomorrow (11), the Ministry of Public Administration said.
The pension payments for the month of June were already deposited to the accounts of senior citizens, J.J. Ratnasiri, the Secretary to the Public Administration Ministry told News 1st.
According to the Ratnasiri, Sri Lanka Army will provide free transport facilities for senior citizens to visit Banks, Post Offices, Cooperative Banks, and SANASA Banks to withdraw the pension payments.
Senior citizens can travel to banks by using the Pension Payment Card or the National ID.
Meanwhile, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said Senior Citizens can travel to withdraw their pensions whilst the travel restriction is in effect.
“Pensions are paid today (10), tomorrow (11), and the day after tomorrow (12). Therefore, they do not need any permit to proceed to the nearest post office to withdraw pension,” the Deputy Police Chief told News 1st on Thursday (Jun. 10).
Moreover, senior citizens who are physically challenged can be accompanied by another individual when travelling to withdraw pension payments, the Police Spokesperson noted.
