COVID-19: Report on virus mutations to DGHS today (10)

COLOMBO (News 1st): The report prepared following studies conducted into the changes of the COVID-19 virus in Sri Lanka will be handed over to the Director-General of Health Services on Thursday (Jun. 10). The Director-General of Health Services will announce the findings of the study today (10), Dr. Chandima Jeewandara, the Director of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura told News 1st. The studies to determine whether or not the COVID-19 virus was subjected to changes, commenced a week ago and 96 biofilms (BIO) samples were obtained from COVID-19 patients in various parts of the country. According to Dr. Chandima Jeewandara, so far, SIX variants of the COVID-19 virus have been detected globally.
