COLOMBO (News 1st): The COVID-19 vaccination drive to administer the Sinopharm Vaccine manufactured in China, will commence in 12 more districts on Tuesday (Jun. 08), the State Ministry of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals said.
“We have taken measures to commence the COVID-19 vaccination drive in 12 districts, where the vaccine was yet to be administered. Thereby, measures were taken to distribute 450,000 Sinopharm vaccines from the Central Vaccine Storage to facilitate the vaccination drive,” Prof. Channa Jayasumana, the State Minister of Production, Supply, and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals told News 1st on Tuesday (Jun. 08).
Accordingly, the Sinopharm jab will be administered in the districts of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Badulla, Moneragala, Hambantota, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Puttalam, Kegalle, Batticaloa, Ampara, and Trincomalee.
Those aged over 60-years, expectant mothers, and state sector officials engaged in field duties in the aforementioned districts will be administered the Sinopharm vaccine, Prof. Jayasumana further noted.
