COLOMBO (News 1st): The cabinet approval has been granted to release the confiscated stocks of essential food items and other goods smuggled into the country to Sathosa outlets to be sold in the local market, the Ministry of Trade said.
A Pricing Committee will be appointed to provide such confiscated essential food items to Sathosa and plans are in place to sell the goods to the consumers at concessionary prices through the Sathosa network, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, the Minister of Trade said on Tuesday (Jun. 08).
Accordingly, confiscated stocks of essential food items including Onion, Mung Beans, and Turmeric, and other goods will be sold via Sathosa in the future.
