COLOMBO (News 1st); Another dead dolphin washed up on Sri Lankan shores on Monday (07) morning.

News 1st correspondents based on the area reported that the Department of Wildlife commenced investigations into the beached dolphin carcass.

The dead dolphin is around 04 feet in length and the Director-General of the Department of Wildlife Chandana Sooriyabandara speaking to News 1st said investigations have already commenced with regard to the discovery of sea turtles and dolphins being washed up on Sri Lankan shores.

On Sunday (06), Sri Lanka's Marine Environment Protection Authority said it is investigating if the chemical substances from the X-Press Pearl container ship were the cause of the death of these sea turtles and other marine life.

The Peradeniya University will be conducting tests, MEPA said.
