COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Air Force said it dropped 1,830 kilograms of Dry Chemical Powder onto the X-Press Pearl container ship from the 21st to the 29th of May using a Bell 212 Helicopter from the No. 7 Helicopter Squadron.
In addition, Sri Lanka Air Force deployed 1,550 personnel from the Katunayake and Ratmalana Air Force bases to clean up the coast in Negombo and Dehiwala.
Sri Lanka Air Force Spokesperson Group Captain Dushan Wijesinghe said around 300 tons of debris and waste were collected from the said areas from 27th May to 02nd June.
