Bail denied for Moratuwa Mayor Samanlal Fernando

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Moratuwa Additional Magistrate denied bail for Moratuwa Samanlala Fernando on Tuesday (01).

The application for bail produced by the Mayor was rejected in the court.

Moratuwa Mayor Samanlal Fernando was remanded until the 11th of June after he was arrested on the 28th of May, for obstructing the duties of state officers.

The Mayor was captured on video arguing with state officials during a vaccination drive in Moratuwa on Thursday (27) where he demanded people in possession of tokens issued by him be given the vaccine, to which the Chief Medical Officer present at the site refused.
