No oil spill detected following X-PRESS PEARL fire; says SLPA

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sustained firefighting operation by Sri Lanka Ports Authority and other local agencies in coordination with the Indian Coast Guard Ships continued for the seventh day, said the Sri Lanka Ports Authority on late Thursday (27) night.
Sri Lankan tugs and Indian Coast Guard Ships have considerably reduced the blaze aboard MV X-Press Pearl and no oil spill was detected, it added.
At the same time, the Sri Lanka Air Force deployed a Bell 212 Helicopter to monitor the situation from the skies above.
