(VIDEO) ‘Zero social distance in prisons’; Convicted MP tells Parliament

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s convicted Parliamentarian Premalal Jayasekera who was escorted to Parliament on Tuesday (18) said it is impossible to even main a distance of a meter inside prison walls.

“There is a large number of COVID-19 cases in the very prison I am held in,” said Jayasekera calling on the government to take necessary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in prisons.

On the 31st of July 2020, Former Power and Energy Deputy Minister and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) candidate Premalal Jayasekara alias ‘Choka Malli’ was found guilty of shooting to death a person and critically injuring two others during the 2015 Presidential Election campaign were sentenced to death by the Ratnapura High Court.
