COLOMBO (News 1st): The health authorities are still capable of controlling the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation in Sri Lanka, State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control, Dr. Sudharshani Fernandopulle said.
“The COVID-19 pandemic is still under control. We can still contain the spread of the virus. We need the fullest support of the people to control this. We request the people to help the healthcare system. The best way to do so is to remain at home and follow the health guidelines,” Dr. Sudharshani Fernandopulle told News 1st on Friday (May 14).
Commenting on the island-wide travel restriction that came into effect at 11:00 pm on Thursday (May 13), State Minister Fernandopulle noted that it was imposed during the long weekend in order to restrict movement.
“We can decide in the coming days whether or not to extend the travel restriction based on the rate of patients detected in the country,” Dr. Sudharshani Fernandopulle, the State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and COVID Disease Control pointed out.
