COLOMBO (News1st): Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. is yet to provide clarity on its new 18-litre gas cylinder that found itself in controversy in recent weeks. On the 27th of April, Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. announced it would provide information and clarity on its 18-litre gas cylinder within a week after it was found to mislead the consumer. However, no such information had been made public as the deadline for the one-week period concluded yesterday. On the 20th of April, the Consumer Affairs Authority informed Litro Gas Lanka Ltd., to withdraw the 18-litre cylinder after detecting that the new product is the existing 12.5-kilogram regular gas cylinder with a reduced quantity of gas. Litro Gas Lanka had committed offences under the Consumer Affairs Authority Act for; 1) Erasing the labels of regular gas cylinders with reduced weight. 2) Falsely claiming that the new product contains a higher capacity. No action has been taken against these offences so far.
