Opp. Leader meets Russian Ambassador; appeal for support against COVID

COLOMBO (News 1st); Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa met with Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Yuri Materi at the Opposition Leader's Official residence in Colombo on Monday (03).

The Opposition Leader requested the ambassador to assist Sri Lanka in obtaining necessary health equipment and material to combat COVID-19.

Sajith Premadasa said the main purpose of meeting with the Russian Ambassador was to encourage Russia to support Sri Lanka in terms of the establishment of field hospitals and obtaining medical material including PCR devices.

"We are fully behind the national effort to try and neutralize the threat (COVID-19). There is a huge shortage in ICU beds and PCR machines," said the Opposition Leader.
