Several GS Divisions isolated with immediate effect: NOCPCO

COLOMBO (News 1st): Several Grama Niladhari Divisions in Wellawaya and Buttala were isolated with effect from 6:00 AM on Wednesday morning (Apr. 28), given the high rate of COVID-19 patients reported from the respective areas, the National Operations Centre on Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said. The Wellawaya City, Veherayaya Grama Niladhari Division, and Kottangahapokuna GS Division of Wellawaya were isolated with effect from 6:00 AM today (Apr. 28), Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operations Centre on Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) told News 1st. According to the Army Commander, Rathdalagama GS Division of Buttala was also placed under isolation with effect from 6:00 AM on Wednesday (28). Moreover, Kumarigama GS Division in Uhana, Ampara, and Alugolla GS Division in Naula, Matale were also isolated. "Areas, where high numbers of cases are detected, will be placed under isolation in order to contain further spread of the virus," Army Commander General Shavendra emphasized.
