COLOMBO (News 1st); The Criminal Investigations Department has requested the Executive Director of the Centre for Society and Religion (CSR) to provide information with regard to a ‘confidential report’ handed over to a group of Catholic priests on Monday (26).

Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st on Wednesday (28) said the request was made by the Director of CID for the purpose of further investigating matter related to the 2019 April 21st Attacks.

On the 26th of April 2021, an article was published in the media regarding a confidential report on the 2019 April 21st Attacks that was handed over to catholic priests by a group of people, said the Deputy Police Chief.

“If there is valuable evidence and salient points in the report with regard to the perpetrators of the attacks, the information is required for investigations. Therefore, a humble request was made for the report,” said the Police Spokesperson.

The Criminal Investigations Department and the Terrorist Investigations Division are conducting joint investigations over the 2019 April 21st Attacks, he added.
