03 COVID-19 Deaths on Monday (26); fatalities rise to 647

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that THREE (03) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Monday (Apr. 26), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 647. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 70-year-old female from Galpatha. She died on 26.04.2021 while receiving treatment at the Kalutara District General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 02. A 92-year-old male from Kandana. He died on 25.04.2021 while receiving treatment at the IDH. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, Diabetes, high blood pressure, and Chronic Kidney Disease. 03. A 70-year-old female from Avissawella. She was diagnosed as infected with the COVID-19 virus while receiving treatment at Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital and transferred to Neville Fernando Hospital, where she died on 26.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Heart failure and Respiratory failure due to Severe Covid pneumonia. Meanwhile, a record 997 new positive COVID-19 cases were reported in the country on Monday (Apr. 26), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 102,376, the Department of Government Information said. As of Tuesday (Apr. 27), there are 7152 active patients receiving treatment, while 94,577 have recovered. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 925,242 people have received the 1st dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
