COLOMBO (News 1st): During the course of this year, 917 complaints pertaining to bribery cases were received so far, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption said on Friday (Apr. 23).
According to the Bribery Commission, steps had been taken to investigate 337 complaints.
Of the 337 complaints investigated so far, 276 were complaints pertaining to bribery and corruption, while the remaining 61 were complaints pertaining to assets, an official from the Bribery Commission told News 1st.
During investigations, 18 suspects have been arrested in connection with the complaints.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption further noted that the total sum of bribes in connection with the complaints is around Rs. 942,500.
