Niraviya & Nikadalupotha GS Divisions isolated: NOCPCO

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Niraviya Grama Seva Division in the Wariyapola police jurisdiction and Nikadalupotha Grama Seva Division in the Wellawa police jurisdiction were placed under isolation with immediate effect on Friday morning (Apr. 23). The two areas were isolated taking into account the high-risk in the spread of COVID-19, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operations Centre on Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) told News 1st. Thereby, the Army Commander requested the residents in the areas that are isolated, to NOT leave the respective area and to NOT travel to other areas. He also urged people NOT to travel to the areas that are put under isolation. The upcoming three weeks are crucial with regard to COVID-19, given the failure to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines post-new year, the Army Commander emphasized. Whilst pointing out that COVID-19 positive patients are detected from various parts of the country, General Shavendra Silva urged people to always wear a face mask and act with caution. Also commenting on the long weekend, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva STERNLY URGED the people to avoid attending public gatherings and remain at home.
