6.4 metric tonnes of illegally imported turmeric seized

Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Customs on Wednesday (21) seized a freight container with 6.4 metric tonnes of illegally imported turmeric.

Customs Spokesperson Sudantha Silva speaking to News 1st said the turmeric was imported to the country under the guise of importing grapes from India. "Another three freight containers with turmeric are to be inspected and investigations are underway," he said.
