Colombo (News 1st); The Sri Lankan government has failed to detail how a person is named as the mastermind of the 2019 April 21st Attacks, alleged opposition MP Harin Fernando on Tuesday (20).

MP Harin Fernando claimed the real perpetrators are in hiding, while the entire blame is placed on one person, Naufer Maulawi.' "After the attacks took place, Former CID Director Shani Abeysekera was the first to trace the person connected the 2019 April 21st Attacks, via an IP address," said the MP quoting testimony recorded at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe the terror attacks, but not mentioned in the PCoI report. "That IP address belonged to an Intelligence Officer," revealed Harin Fernando adding according to PCoI testimony when the Intelligence Officer was arrested, Military Intelligence personnel arrived and took him away. From 2019 to date, 04 separate directors were appointed to the Criminal Investigations Department, said the MP adding that almost all investigating officers have been transferred out of the CID. "It is not clear there is a cover-up when detectives are either jailed or transferred?," questioned the MP who went on to note that another Zaharan from Matale was in touch with others using a 'Sonic' Code. "Zaharan from Matale was arrested and detained and so is the so-called mastermind Naufewr Maulawi, however, the PCoI did not record any statement from these two individuals," said the MP. "Sri Lanka's intelligence is controlled by one person in the government and that person is the President's representative who appears at the Attorney General's Departments instead of the investigating officers," alleged the MP. Sri Lankan intelligence follows me where ever I go, said Harin Fernando adding even his security personnel are summoned for routine questioning.
