02 COVID-19 Deaths on Monday (19); fatalities rise to 620

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that TWO (02) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Monday (Apr. 19), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 620. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 58-year-old female from Mahawa. She was diagnosed as infected with the COVID-19 virus while receiving treatment at Galgamuwa District Hospital and transferred to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, where she died on 17.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Severe Acute Respiratory Disease Syndrome due to Covid pneumonia. 02. An 84-year-old male from Marassana. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID-19 virus while receiving treatment at Kandy National Hospital and transferred to Theldeniya Base Hospital, where he died on 19.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Severe Covid pneumonia in the background of Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Dyslipidaemia, and Heart Failure. Meanwhile, another 291 new positive cases were reported on Monday (Apr. 19), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 97,105, the Department of Government Information said. As of Tuesday (Apr. 20), there are 3111 active patients receiving treatment, while 93,374 have recovered.
