Kandy (News 1st); Personnel attached to the Ceylon Electricity Board were assaulted by a group of angry locals in Kandy on Monday (19).

According to reports, an electricity pole in Pushpadana Mawatha, Kandy has collapsed onto a house and the CEB personnel has visited the area to conduct repairs.

However, locals say the electricity pole in question collapsed as it was improperly set up a month ago.

When the CEB arrived at the location the locals protested and the situation eventually led to a brawl.

It was reported that the CEB thereafter left the area without conducting any repairs and the entire area including the neighborhood where the official quarters of the District Secretary is located, is currently without electricity.
