COLOMBO (News1st): State minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal has denied claims that the Colombo Port City will not be regulated under Sri Lankan laws.
“Since they would be regulated from one point, we have relaxed them from other laws to avoid regulating them from multiple points,” the state minister said on Friday.
He pointed out that the Port City will fall under certain laws including the Municipal Council Act, Commercial Mediation Centre, Town and Country Planning Ordinance.
“Therefore, it will not threaten the country’s sovereignty,” he said.
Cabraal also rejected claims that money laundering can take place through Port City, citing that it is unfair to make such claims.
“You see these are not actually fair to comment. These are not fair comments,” he said.
