02 COVID-19 deaths of Sunday (11); fatalities reach 598

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that TWO (02) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country yesterday (Apr. 11), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 598. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 60-year-old male from Puttalam. He was transferred from Puttalam District General Hospital to Maharagama Apeksha Hospital and then to Homagama Base Hospital where he died on 11.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia Neutropenic sepsis and Lymphoma. 02. A 72-year-old male from Baddegama. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 at a Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and transferred to Pimbura Base Hospital where he died on 11.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Covid encephalitis. Meanwhile, another 225 new positive cases were reported yesterday (Apr. 11), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 95,131, the Department of Government Information said. As of Monday (Apr. 12), there are 2902 active patients receiving treatment, while 91,631 have recovered. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 925,242 people have been vaccinated in the country.
