COLOMBO (News1st): The Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (APAD) has begun rebuilding homes for those who lost their houses in a fire in Grandpass last month.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with the state-run Disaster Management Center, the armed forces and private sector associates.
Police have confirmed that 50 houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Kajimawatte in Grandpass, leaving at least 40 families displaced.
APAD, with the invaluable assistance of private sector associates, also joined handed out early recovery items such as kitchen utensils and family clothing among affected families.
