Second dose of COVID-19 vaccine from 23rd April - Health Minister

Colombo (News 1st); The second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered from the 23rd of April, said Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

Responding to the Opposition Leader in Parliament on Thursday (08), she said the second dose is to be administered to over 900,000 people in a streamlined manner. "Sri Lanka currently has 300,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and the State Pharmaceutical Corporation is working towards procuring the remaining required number of vaccines," she said adding the consignment of the vaccines is expected in the coming weeks. The State Pharmaceutical Corporation will purchase the Oxford, AstraZeneca vaccine from the Serum Institute in India.
