Colombo (News 1st); Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena's recent statement claiming that three kilograms of rice could suffice for a family for a period of two weeks, was ridiculed in Parliament on Wednesday (07).

"If we consider a family of four, one person will only receive 214 grams of rice for a period of two weeks, given that they only have 03 kg or 3000 g for that period," said opposition lawmaker Thushara Indunil. "If you do the math, one person can only enjoy 17 grams of rice per meal," he further said adding the government assumes the people eat like birds.
