Colombo (News 1st); The gazette on banning palm oil imports to Sri Lanka could change in the future, said Cabinet Spokesperson & Minister Keheliya Rambukwella on Tuesday (06).
Speaking at the cabinet media briefing the minister said there are various views on the said gazette notification.
On Monday, Sri Lanka banned imports of palm oil and new palm plantations and told producers to uproot existing plantations in a phased manner.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said in a statement the aim was to “make the country free from oil palm plantation and palm oil consumption.”
