No Carcinogen Aflatoxin in Coconut oil samples: CDA

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Coconut Development Authority (CDA) has confirmed that none of the provided samples contained the cancer-causing component Carcinogen Aflatoxin, following tests conducted on the Coconut oil samples submitted to the Authority, its top official said on Friday (Apr. 02). The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) handed over 50 samples of packaged coconut oil currently on sale in the local market to conduct tests, Piyasena Edirimanne, the Director of the Coconut Development Authority told News 1st. According to Edirimanne, it was confirmed that the samples were free of the cancer-causing component, upon sending the samples for laboratory tests.
