COLOMBO (News1st): The Bangladesh Prime Minister's foreign affairs advisor has said that their country has learned a lesson from Sri Lanka with regard to maintaining ties with China. The Bangladesh Prime Minister's foreign affairs advisor Gowher Rizvi had told the Indian Express that his country does not believe in developing a relationship with China at the expense of ties with India. Rizvi had told the Indian news outlet that; "Our relationship with China is very much confined to investments and development projects. However, even then we have been very mindful". The Prime Minister's advisor had noted that Bangladesh does not want to borrow more than their repayment capacity as it has learned a lesson from Sri Lanka and the East African state of Dijibouti. He had said : “We know how to guard our sovereignty. We became an Independent State through a war of liberation" Rizvi's remarks came as Indian Prime Minister Modi began a two-day official visit to Bangladesh as the hosting state celebrated its Golden Jubilee of independence.
