Colombo (News 1st); The administration of the Colombo Port City has forwarded a request to the Ministry of Health to provide the Sinopharm vaccine to Chinese nationals in Sri Lanka.
The Health Ministry said the request currently under review, however, a spokesperson said no final decision was made on the matter. Sri Lanka's National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) on Saturday approved China's Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use in the island country. According to State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Channa Jayasumana, this is the third Covid-19 vaccine to be approved in the country after the AstraZeneca and Russia's Sputnik V jabs. The Health Ministry said the China-manufactured Covid-19 vaccine will reach Sri Lanka next week.
