Showers exceeding 100mm expected - Meteorological Department

COLOMBO(News 1st): Showers exceeding 100mm are expected in Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in some areas across the Galle and Matara Districts, said Meteorological Department. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over most parts of the island during the latter part of the day, said Acting Meteorologist Chathushka Premachandra. Few showers will also occur in Batticaloa, Ampara and Hambanthota districts during the day, while misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces during the morning, She said. She also requested the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
