COLOMBO (News 1st): A DNA test will be conducted on Friday (Mar. 19) in order to determine whether the body brought to Sri Lanka yesterday from Dubai is of wanted criminal Dinuka Madushan also known as "Keselwatte Dinuka," Sri Lanka Police said. The remains of a deceased were brought to Sri Lanka from the United Arab Emirates on Thursday (Mar. 18) and Police launched investigations accordingly. "An individual identified as Rajapaksha Aarachchige Dinuka Madushan alias "Keselwatte Dinuka" who was actively involved in various criminal activities in Sri Lanka from 2000 to 2012; went missing eventually," Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana elaborated on the case. Thereafter, based on investigations, it was revealed that Keselwatte Dinuka left Sri Lanka on 19th June 2012 by using a fake passport, DIG Ajith Rohana noted. According to the Deputy Police Chief, the body that was brought on Thursday (Mar. 18) included documents that mentioned the deceased was Rajapaksa Kasun Maduranga, which is a different name. "Therefore, we need to identify the body properly in order to stock off the court cases that are pending against Rajapaksha Aarachchige Dinuka Madushan. Hence, airport police made a request to the court to order the Judicial Medical Officer to conduct a DNA test. Accordingly, the DNA test will be conducted today (19). The samples would be taken from the deceased and the mother of Keselwatte Dinuka," Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st on Friday (Mar. 19). Furthermore, a Fingerprint Analysis will be carried out by comparing the fingerprints recorded by the Keselwatte Police in 2011 before the suspect fled Sri Lanka and the fingerprints on the body that was brought to Sri Lanka on Thursday (Mar. 18). A post mortem examination will be conducted once the DNA test and the Fingerprint Analysis conclude; following which the funeral will take place, DIG Ajith Rohana further added.
