COLOMBO (News 1st): The 24-hour token strike launched by the Locomotive Engine Operators Union (LEOU) and affiliated trade unions was called off on Thursday afternoon (Mar. 18) following discussions with the Minister of Transport.

This was confirmed to News 1st by the Railways General Manager.

The Locomotive Engine Operators and affiliated trade unions launched the 24-hour token strike on Wednesday (Mar. 17) over several demands, including unjust disciplinary action against railway workers.
