COLOMBO (News 1st): A decision was reached to establish special quarantine centres for Sri Lankan expatriates to undergo the mandatory quarantine period upon being repatriated to the country, the State Ministry of Foreign Employment Promotion and Market Diversification said.

Of around 100 centres recognised through District Secretariats, the health authorities granted approval for about 50 centres covering all districts, Suntharam Arumainayaham, the Secretary to the State Ministry of Foreign Employment Promotion told News 1st on Tuesday (Mar. 16).

Following a bidding process, steps will be taken to set up such centers in accordance with the quarantine rules and regulations, he further noted.
