COLOMBO (News 1st): Gampaha Police arrested one suspect in Bogamuwa, Yakkala with an illegally assembled motor vehicle, Sri Lanka Police said on Wednesday (Mar. 03). Police also recovered 12 number plates from the suspect's possession, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st. The suspect was produced at the Gampaha Magistrate's Court and he was remanded till 10th March. Gampaha Police are conducting further investigations. Elaborating on the crime committed by the suspect, DIG Ajith Rohana said based on the Sri Lankan law, no one is permitted to illegally assemble any vehicle nor can anyone prepare vehicle number plates other than the Commissioner-General of Motor Traffic.
