Hejaaz Hizbullah & Madrasa school principal further remanded

Colombo (News 1st); Attorney-at-law Hejaaz Hizbullah and Principal of the Wanathawilluwa Puttlam Madrasa School Mohammed Shakeel were further remanded till the 18th of March. The remand order was made after the duo were produced before Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage on Wednesday (03). They were earlier arrested under charges of aiding and abetting and having close links with a terrorist involved in the April 21 attacks in 2019. The Criminal Investigations Department today submitted a confidential report to the court with respect to the investigations. Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appearing for the prosecution urged the court to ensure the report is placed in a secure and safe location away from the reach of outside parties, considering the highly sensitive information in contains that also could impact future investigations.
