Colombo (News 1st); Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan did not make any mention of the cremation of COVID-19 victims during his meets with the President and Prime Minister, said Justice Minister Ali Sabry PC on Thursday (25).
‘The Prime Minister only spoke of business opportunities and Pakistan’s support to Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council,’ said the Justice Minister.
Commenting on the UNHRC report on Sri Lanka, the Justice Minister said the ex-parte report will not be accepted.
‘Sri Lanka went to war against the most brutal terrorist organizations in the world, the LTTE. Following the war, 12,756 LTTE cadres surrendered and they were rehabilitated. None of these were mentioned and the report only speaks of flaws,’ he said while slamming the report as unbalanced.
Any issue needs to be resolved internally, if issues are taken to the international fora, it creates rifts among the people, the minister added.
There are no political prisoners in Sri Lanka, stressed the Justice Minister adding there are only those who were arrested as per the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, and their cases too will be taken up for trial soon.
