Three COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday (23); fatalities reach 453

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that THREE (03) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Tuesday (Feb. 23), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 453. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 75-year-old male from Wattala. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 and transferred from the Colombo General Hospital to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, where he died on 22.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 02. A 76-year-old male from Nuwara Eliya. He died on 20.02.2021 while receiving treatment at the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid-19 infection. 03. An 83-year-old male from Walapane. He died on 21.02.2021 while receiving treatment at the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and shock due to blood poisoning. Meanwhile, another 492 new positive cases were reported on Tuesday (Feb. 23), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 81,009. As of Wednesday morning (Feb. 24), there are 4714 active patients receiving treatment, while 75,842 have recovered.
