Tremor recorded in the seas off Panama

COLOMBO (News1st):  A tremor with a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter Scale had been recorded in the seas off Panama today. The location of the tremor has been identified as an area 26.6 kilometres to the south of Panama and 14.7 kilometres to the east of an estuary of the Kumbukkan Oya. The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said that the tremor that had occurred at around 11:14 am today had been recorded in four seismometres including Pallekele, Hakmana. The residents of these areas said that they had been experienced the tremor at that time. "We heard a large noise. We felt the earth shaking while being seated in our shop," one resident recalled. Sri Lanka has experienced several tremors in the last few months, with five incidents being recorded in the Kandy and Badulla districts. The tremors had been experienced near the Victoria Dam, Digana, Ekiriya in Ridimaliyadda and the Madolsima areas.
