19 Parliamentarians receive the COVID-19 vaccine

COLOMBO (News1st): The inoculation for parliamentarians against the COVID-19 virus began today. The parliamentarians were given a jab of the Astra Zeneca Covishield vaccine at the Army hospital in Narahenpita. A group of MPs including Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, State Minister Susil Premajayantha, MPs Mayantha Dissanayake, Harshana Rajakaruna, Tissa Aththanayake, Dilip Wedaarachchi, and Palani Digambaran received the vaccine this morning. Sergeant at arms of Parliament Narendra Fernando confirmed that 19 MPs received a jab of the vaccine today. The inoculation program for parliamentarians will be conducted for 4 days. Meanwhile, a group of MPs have rejected the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This group of MPs include Harin Fernando, Mujibur Rahman, Hesha Vithana, Manusha Nanayakkara, and Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
