Yogeswari Patkunarajah appointed as Commissioner of PCoI on HR violations

COLOMBO (News 1st): Yogeswari Patkunarajah was appointed as Commissioner of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe Human Rights Violations, through an extraordinary gazette notification. On January 20th 2021, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed a 3-member Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) to Investigate, Inquire into and Report or take Necessary Actions on Findings of preceding Commissions or Committees appointed to investigate into Human Rights Violations, Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and other such offenses. Supreme Court Judge A. H. M. D. Nawaz, Retired Inspector General of Police Chandra Fernando and retired District Secretary Nimal Abeysiri were appointed as members to the PCoI.
